Anita Mclaughlin

Sharing my country with visitors is my passion; there are so many different places to see, changing landscapes, seaside resorts and historic cities that we will all experience as we travel around Great Britain.   During my 30+ years working in the tourism industry I have explored much of my country and enjoy linking our surroundings to our very complicated history. In the recent past I taught travel and tourism to young people who know more about overseas destinations than their own country, so as with them it will give me great pleasure to introduce my country to you.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, particularly novels as escapism from work. I also help out in a family hospitality business, covering as chef for my daughter; it is great fun to keep my cooking and baking skills up to date. You may have guessed I like to keep busy.

I am a ‘northern’ girl, having lived all my life in the North West of England; my mother’s family has lived in the vicinity of where I was raised for over 300 years. I now live in Cumbria the Lake District, in a traditional Lakeland cottage with my partner Roger.  I have two children Sara (the chef) & Mark (an engineer) and two grand-daughters Alecia and Emily who live close to me with their mummy, Sara, and their daddy, Lee.  You may get an opportunity to meet some of them when we are in the Lake District during our trip around Great Britain.

I look forward to meeting you and exploring this wonderful country of mine very soon.
